Martin Style 'Scottish' Soprano Ukulele
(Scottish because most of the Tonewood originates from Scottland!)
Meticulously Handcrafted & expertly finished. Combining Scottish Rippled Sycamore, Indian Rosewood, American Black Walnut & Ebony
- this is a remarkably resonant Ukulele. And fitted with LR Baggs Five 0 Undersaddle pickup system.
Soprano Ukuleles can be notoriously quiet, but this ukulele is constructed to maximise tone quality.
And widely considered to be the best on the market, the LR Baggs Ukulele pickup system equips it for live performances.

The LR Baggs Active Pickup System gives generous volume, & nicely replicates the sweet tone of nylon strings. The system incorporates volume control, conveniently fitted just under the sound hole.

Finishing
Soprano Ukuleles are so small that hard varnish finishes are likely to impact the sound.
Allowing the wood to 'flex' is the thing that gives instruments resonance. So hard varnishes are avoided. The same principle was applied by the great Violin makers of the 18th century.

So instead of Nitrocellulose Lacquer or Poly varnish, Shellac is used. This gives a much thinner but less durable finish. Beeswax is added by hand to add texture to the finish, & should be re-applied periodically.

Also, binding is avoided - this only adds more rigidity with additional amounts of glue.
